The odds against getting published

Did enjoy hearing Wyl Menmuir talking with Fiona Mozley this morning at the North Cornwall Book Festival – each of them with a Booker longlisted first novel – about the utter randomness of finding a publisher for one’s work these days. Uncertain whether this fills me with hope or despair at my present stage. Give thanks that I’m lucky enough to have an agent and keep hoping? Probably!
Valued the opportunity to talk with each of them afterwards too. Wyl’s ‘The Many’ and Fiona’s ‘Elmet’ both well worth a read. First rate expressive writing and characterisation.
